Course information
Contents
Participants will learn the didactic principles and standards of fide as well as scenario-based didactics. Step by step, they will plan and evaluate learner-oriented, scenario-based language learning units that follow the co-constructive fide learning cycle. They will use the didactic resources on the fide web portal and utilize them for designing sustainable learning processes.
Content:
• Didactic foundations of the fide approach
• Terminology and steps of scenario-based didactics
• Design of the fide learning cycle: needs assessment, introduction to the scenario, building resources and language competencies, evaluation
• Didactic resources on the fide web portal
• Lesson planning: rough planning of a scenario; detailed planning of an action step; analysis of planning sequences and reflection
• Promotion of sustainable learning

Goals
Action competency:
Plan, implement, and evaluate instruction according to the basic principles and didactic standards of fide
Objectives:
• Plan, design, and evaluate learning units together with the learners
• Design scenario-based learning units as a continuous co-constructive cycle of goal setting, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation
• Enable the practice-oriented application of the linguistic means developed in class in real-life communication situations
• Adapt or develop teaching materials in a scenario-appropriate and participant-oriented manner
• Support learners in using the target language in all modes (receptive, productive, interactive, mediative) with regard to their concrete living environments
• Encourage learners to use bridge languages when needed to achieve their communication goal
• Consider the principle of internal differentiation when planning and designing learning units
• Enable and promote a feedback and assessment culture in the teaching and learning process and consider feedback in the further design of learning units
• Support learners in creating learning documentation that enables sustainable learning
• Support learners in identifying, developing, and sustainably using individual learning strategies
• Reflect on the planning and design of learning units, formulate insights, and derive consequences for alternative approaches.
