Course information

Contents
The module is aimed at language course instructors in adult education who wish to acquire basic didactic-methodological knowledge about foreign/second language didactics, or to structure, efficiently use, and sustainably consolidate their expertise. The focus is on the planning and design of action-oriented language learning units – with a well-founded repertoire of methods and media that sustainably promote communicative language activities, language competencies, and strategies.

• Didactic-methodological principles in DaF/DaZ instruction
• Characteristics of foreign/second language acquisition and consequences for instruction
• Promotion of communicative language activities and strategies: reception, interaction, production, mediation
• Promotion of communicative language competencies: vocabulary range/mastery, grammatical correctness
• Promotion of learner autonomy: reflection methods appropriate for the target group
• Lesson planning: appropriately formulate and present learning objectives; justify the selection of methods and media; internal differentiation
Goals
Action competence:
Promote action-oriented foreign and second language acquisition, taking into account the needs of the target group, their resources, and language use requirements

Goals:
• Justifiably adapt or create plans for action-oriented learning units
• Take into account the differences between foreign and second language acquisition in the planning of learning units
• Plan and implement language learning activities in a level-appropriate, participant-oriented, internally differentiated, and individualized manner
• Enable language learners to act communicatively in their daily lives
• Promote the transfer of what has been learned
• Strengthen learners' confidence in their own learning ability and the (currently) available resources, and make them usable for the individual and joint learning process
• Make communicative strategies visible and teach them purposefully and systematically
• Promote learners' competencies to reflect on their learning process and make this usable for the learning process
• Purposefully use digital and analog teaching/learning materials and methods to promote various language activities and corresponding communicative language competencies
• Provide comprehensible and well-founded reasons for didactic actions.
