Personal advice is provided by our intercultural interpreters in the participants’ native language or in a language they understand well.

Participants
- can communicate in a simple way at the end of the course,
- know important information points,
- can find their way around Basel and the region.

The German: Getting Started course covers level A1.1. As a follow-up course, an intensive German course at level A1.2 is recommended.
Costs
CHF 103.00–1,030.00 for private payers.
The course fee depends on place of residence and household income.
Free of charge for newly arrived persons with a voucher from the Canton of Basel-Stadt.

CHF 1,200.00 for institutions.

Further Information

Adult migrants who
- have only been living in Switzerland for a short time,
- have no German or only a little German,
- are planning to enter working life,
- are familiar with the Latin alphabet.

With regular course attendance (at least 80%), you will receive a course certificate.

Online until 2026-07-29; in person at the counter, registration is possible until 2026-08-05; after that, it is still possible if places are available. Please make an appointment for in-person registration and placement.

Withdrawal of registration is possible free of charge up to 7 days before the start of the course. After that, we charge an administrative fee of CHF 50.00. Cancellations must be made in writing.

In the event of withdrawal during the first 7 days, one quarter of the course fees must be paid in addition to the administrative fee. From the second week of the course, the full course fees must be paid. If the reasons for withdrawal lie with ECAP, participants will not incur any costs.
