Terms and conditions of employment
ECAP offers fair and progressive employment conditions in an intercultural and fulfilling working environment. Flexible working hours, opportunities for further training, social security and a strong collective agreement provide a solid foundation for professional and personal development.

Working in the field of training low-skilled workers and migrants gives your work a special meaning: it is a joy to see how, thanks to your contribution, people improve their skills day by day, interact with the world around them, develop professionally, or escape situations of exploitation. For ECAP, training is a tool for empowerment that offers people the opportunity to take control of their own lives.
ECAP is a deeply intercultural organisation. We are the ideal workplace for you if you enjoy working with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Since 2016, ECAP has had a collective labour agreement with Unia and VPOD – the ECAP-Unia-VPOD CLA, which is regarded by many cantonal authorities as the benchmark for optimal working conditions in the sector (see Swiss Wage Book). The ECAP-Unia-VPOD CLA is unique in the adult education sector in terms of regulating the duties and rights of teaching and non-teaching staff. Furthermore, it protects employees from any form of discrimination or bullying and guarantees the right to information and participation.
As a trainer, you will be employed on a permanent contract. The contract regulates the teaching role in the form of a guaranteed annual teaching load. In this way, we combine the flexibility required in the adult education sector with job and income security for our employees.
A further advantage of working for ECAP is that we do not hire on a contract basis and do not pass on business risks to our staff.
ECAP recognises and supports its staff’s right to training and professional development. To this end, a plan is drawn up each year featuring numerous in-house training activities for all staff.
The entire ECAP training programme is available free of charge to staff, including training courses for trainers (ADEFA, fide modules, etc.).
External training is funded on an individual basis upon request – in accordance with the relevant ‘Guidelines for the Training and Further Training of ECAP Foundation Staff’.
ECAP guarantees full equality of pay. We are also committed to achieving equality between women and men. Employees may not be disadvantaged in any way on the grounds of their gender, sexual orientation or marital status (Art. 29 of the CLA).
ECAP actively combats all forms of discrimination against people on the grounds of their origin, nationality, religion, language, gender, political views or for any other reason. Consequently, ECAP does not tolerate any discriminatory or racist behaviour on the part of its employees towards colleagues, course participants or potential clients.
We are committed to respect, equality and equal opportunities for our employees. We condemn discrimination and harassment of any kind. Employees who are victims of discriminatory behaviour, bullying or harassment of any kind therefore have the right to refer their case to an independent and neutral ombudsman.
ECAP training centres offer a wide range of courses, so you can find working hours that suit your individual needs. You can adjust your working hours flexibly throughout the year. This flexibility allows you to balance work with family commitments, other activities and/or your studies.
Daily sickness benefit insurance
All employees are insured for daily sickness benefit. Trainers who teach fewer than 4 hours per week are excluded from this cover. In the event of illness, they are compensated in accordance with the Zurich reference scale.
Work-related accidents
All employees are insured against accidents at work.
Non-occupational accidents
All non-teaching staff and trainers who teach an average of at least 4 hours per week are insured against non-occupational accidents. ECAP guarantees insurance cover even during periods when there are no courses.
Supplementary insurance
All employees are covered by supplementary accident insurance. This supplementary insurance provides various additional benefits (e.g. private hospital ward)
Maternity leave
112 daily allowances are paid from the day of the birth. If working conditions permit, the mother may be granted unpaid leave of up to one year (following maternity leave). During the first year following the birth of the child, breastfeeding at work is considered working time.
ECAP pays the full premium for daily sickness benefits, maternity leave, accident insurance and supplementary insurance.
