Exams and certificates in Bern

ECAP Bern is accredited to deliver the fide test and offers it in German, the national language, at levels A1 to B1 (CEFR).

Test fide

The fide test was launched by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) and is recognised throughout Switzerland. The fide test allows you to demonstrate your oral and written German language skills. It is used, amongst other things, by public administrations, for further education and when looking for a job. After taking the test, you will receive the Swiss Language Passport, which certifies your language skills.

A certificate helps you in your job search and is often a prerequisite for a residence permit or naturalisation. For a residence permit, German language skills at least at level A2 are required (e.g. fide test). Different requirements apply for naturalisation depending on the canton.

We do not offer fide tests in Biel.

fide preparation courses

Would you like to familiarise yourself with the fide test and practise for it first? We also offer preparation courses led by our licensed examiners. They take place over two Saturdays and comprise 8 lessons.
