Literacy courses in Zurich

Would you like to learn to read and write, or improve your basic skills? Our literacy courses are aimed at adults who speak a foreign language and who cannot read or write, or find it difficult to do so.

The courses are also suitable for people who are not yet familiar with the Latin alphabet. Participants learn to read and write step by step. Depending on their level, they practise the Latin alphabet, numbers and important everyday words. At the same time, they improve their listening and speaking skills in German.
On the course, participants build their independence and learn how to apply their German language skills in everyday life. Before the course begins, they take a free placement test, after that they are placed in the appropriate course level. The course is free of charge for those who pay for it themselves and live in the canton of Zurich.

Our offer

Do participants want to make rapid progress? The intensive course takes place every day and offers regular lessons.
Intensive course with 4 lessons a day (8.30–11.50 am or 1.30–4.50 pm), Monday to Friday. Duration: 6 weeks (120 lessons). Childcare is provided during course hours.

Do participants want to learn and still have time for their family or other commitments? The semi-intensive course combines regular study with a more flexible timetable.
Semi-intensive course with 4 lessons a day (8.30–11.50 am or 1.30–4.50 pm), Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Duration: 10 weeks (120 lessons). Childcare is provided during course hours.
