The fide test consists of two parts:
Oral part (speaking and understanding)
Written part (reading and writing)
When registering, you choose which parts you would like to take.
Goals
The fide test allows language skills in German, French, and Italian to be demonstrated orally and in writing. It was developed on behalf of the State Secretariat for Migration SEM specifically for everyday life in Switzerland. Oral and written skills are tested separately; in the oral part, participants may also speak Swiss German. The levels achieved (A1, A2, or B1) can be presented with the language passport when looking for work, for naturalization, or for a residence or settlement permit.
Procedure
After registration, you will receive the official invitation letter with the exact time approximately 14 days before the date. The examination times are binding.
The oral part is conducted with two licensed examiners. The written part takes place with a maximum of 12 participants at the same time.
Approximately 4 weeks after the examination, you will receive the language passport directly from the fide secretariat, which certifies your language competence. The fide test can be repeated as a whole or individually (oral/written) as often as desired. The participation fee will be charged each time.

We recommend early registration, as the number of places per date is limited. The final registration deadline, subject to availability, is 4 weeks before the test date.
Registration is done using the registration form, which you can download directly below, fill out, and send to the infobe@ecap.ch address. Please include a copy of your ID for name verification. The appointment can only be confirmed after receipt of the registration form.

In the event of withdrawal of registration up to 3 weeks before the test date, a processing fee of CHF 50 will be charged. In the event of withdrawal at a later date or non-attendance, the entire fee will be invoiced.
