The fide test consists of two parts:
Oral exam (Speaking and Understanding)
Written exam (Reading and Writing)
Goals
With the fide test, you can demonstrate your oral and written language skills at levels A1, A2, and B1 according to the CEFR.
Procedure
Four weeks after the exam, you will receive the language passport directly from the fide Bern office, which certifies your language proficiency, provided your correspondence address is correct. Over Christmas/New Year, you will receive the language passport approximately 6 weeks after the exam. The fide test is recognized by the federal government and cantons as proof of language proficiency. You can repeat or update the fide test as often as you wish if you have achieved a higher language level.

Do you already have a recognized certificate or language skills at B1 or higher and can prove it? Then there is the possibility to acquire a language passport with the B1 entry (oral and written) via the B1 validation dossier.

CHF 250 for oral and written exam
CHF 170 for ORAL exam ONLY (Speaking and Understanding)

Persons who wish to demonstrate their language proficiency in the national language, German.

Upon completion of the fide test, you will receive the Swiss Language Passport, which certifies the demonstrated language skills.
The fide test and the language passport were initiated by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) and are recognized throughout Switzerland. You can use them with authorities, for further education, or when seeking employment.

We recommend early registration, as the number of places per appointment is limited. The last registration date for available places is 4 weeks before the test.
Registration is done using the separate registration form, which the ECAP Consulting & Administration team will gladly send to you.

Cancellation up to 3 weeks before the test is free of charge. If the registration is withdrawn at a later date or in case of non-appearance, the full fee will be charged.
