The fide test consists of two parts:

→ Oral part (speaking and listening comprehension)
→ Written part (reading and writing)

When you register, you choose which parts you would like to take.
Goals
The fide test, developed specifically for everyday life in Switzerland, can be used to demonstrate German language skills orally and in writing at levels A1, A2 and B1 according to the CEFR.
Procedure
After registering, you will receive the official invitation letter with the exact time. The exam times are binding.

Oral and written skills are assessed separately; in the oral part, participants may also speak Swiss German.

You will receive the language passport and the test results by post about 4 weeks after the test.
ECAP and the fide office cannot provide any information about the results by phone.
Costs
Full test (oral and written):
→ CHF 250.00 per test

Oral test only (speaking and listening comprehension):
→ CHF 170.00 per test

Written test only (reading and writing):
→ CHF 120.00 per test

Further Information

All persons aged 16 and over who would like to demonstrate their language skills in the national language German.

People with a disability can also take the fide test. Special rules apply to them, which are agreed together with the examination institution and the fide office.

If you successfully pass the entire exam, you will receive a certificate.

Advice & Administration on the ground floor

The exact exam times will be sent to you together with the written invitation about 10 days before the exam date. The invitation letter contains all important information about your exam, in particular the date, time and exam location.
