German lessons are based on everyday professional and private situations in Switzerland.

- Building and expanding vocabulary
- Speaking (conversation and pronunciation)
- Listening and reading comprehension
- Writing simple to more complex texts
- Fundamentals of grammar
- Learning techniques

Once you have completed level A1, A2, B1, B2, or C1, you can take the internationally recognized telc language examinations or the fide test with us.

Procedure
Course times depend on the level and cannot be freely chosen. Your preferences will be taken into account where possible. Times are finalized one week before the course begins. Participants will then receive a written invitation.

Course costs depend on place of residence and household income.
Free for newcomers with a voucher from the Canton of Basel-Stadt.

Adults who wish to intensively expand their German language skills and are familiar with the Latin alphabet

With regular course attendance (at least 80%), you will receive a course certificate.

Childcare (morning and afternoon courses):
Open during course hours for children aged 18 months to 7 years. Costs: CHF 160.00 to 400.00 per child, depending on place of residence and age. CHF 800.00 to 1,304.00 for institutions. The number of places is limited.

Online registration until July 24, 2026. In-person registration at the counter is possible until July 31, 2026, and thereafter if places are available. Please make an appointment for in-person registration and placement testing.

Withdrawal of registration is possible free of charge up to 7 days before the start of the course. After that, we charge an administrative fee of CHF 50.00. Cancellations must be made in writing.

In the event of withdrawal during the first 7 days, one quarter of the course costs must be paid in addition to the administrative fee. From the second week of the course, the full course costs must be paid. If the reasons for withdrawal lie with ECAP, participants will incur no costs.
