Literacy courses in Solothurn

The literacy courses run by ECAP Solothurn are aimed at non-native speakers who are unable to read and write at all, or can do so only with great difficulty, or who are unfamiliar with the Latin alphabet.

In the four levels, Alpha 1 to Alpha 4, participants acquire or develop their reading and writing skills. They learn the Latin alphabet and numbers, develop their phonological awareness and build up their spoken German skills for everyday life – particularly pronunciation and everyday expressions. At the same time, they strengthen their independence, develop learning strategies and learn to use their language skills in a targeted manner.

The courses take place three times a week, with three lessons each session – either in the morning or in the afternoon. A course comprises 108 lessons, lasts 12 weeks and starts three times a year: in January, April and August.

For participants with pre-school-aged children, external childcare is available at the Royal Kids Club during the course.
